a little sassy, a little spicy, a little silly

Welcome to my little piece of the cyberworld! Grab a margarita (it's 5 o'clock somewhere right?), put your feet up and stay awhile. I'm a wedding photographer residing in Houston-ish, TX, but forever a Vegas girl at heart.

Take a look around and leave us some love in the form of blog comments. A naked blog is an unhappy one, you know!

I would love to hear from you! If you have any questions about my wedding coverage or would just like to chat, drop me a line - Suzy@suzyminphotography.com or give me a call 979.549.1667. I don't bite...hard! :)

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a fabulous day!

Who’s our wedding photographer?

I’ve been asked time and time again. I smile and slyly sady “It’s a secret.” People look at me funny, then smile and say “Oh, ok.” And then I do a little laugh in my head as I’ve been RELISHING the thought of these photos for a LONG time.

Since Mike and I have gotten engaged, we had pretty much figured out who our wedding photographer would be. Before all us (well ok, we chose the loaction first, but this was a VERY close 2nd)

We have been blessed with SO many talented and wonderful photography friends, but for us it was pretty easy to figure out who we wanted documenting our big day.

I can tell you one thing I DID NOT want. I did NOT want our wedding to feel like the papparazzi with 90 gajillion photogs getting in the way of the main photog. I did not want 125 zillion flashes going off around us. So Mike and I discussed who would it be? We wanted someone super fun. Someone we could spend the entire wedding day with. Someone who could make us feel comfortable BEHIND the camera. Someone who has badass camera skills. Someone who has badass lighting skills. We found that someone. They IMMEDIATELY came to mind.

WHO?! WHO?! are you wondering? Can you not stand it anymore?? :)

I’ve been on the EDGE of my seat waiting for these from this BADASS PHOTOGRAPHER.

Everyone, please give it up for our freaking AWESOME wedding photograper – ED PINGOL

Ed and his freaking adorable wife Monica are two of the MOST genuine and overall NICEST people you will EVER EVER EVER MEET.

I’m going to stop talking now and just you how freaking awesome Ed is…

Ed, once again, thank you thank you THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.

June 23, 2010 - 9:04 pm Corinna Hoffman - Congratulations on your engagement!! These are hot pix of you guys :) Great choice on the photogs :)

June 23, 2010 - 10:29 pm Frank Amodo - Congratulations on your engagement! It's so nice to see Mike in photos! hehe..and I have to agree, ED is the man! Both Monica & Ed are the most kindest genuine people on Earth!

June 23, 2010 - 11:24 pm Jensey Root - SO exciting, Suzy!! Love the photos, you guys are so cute! The stair one and piggy back ones are my favorites. :)

June 24, 2010 - 11:26 am Cara Carlson - Congratulations you guys!! Your pictures came out awesome! Great choice for a wedding photographer!

Beaumont Wedding Photography – Kim and Brian Sneaky Peek!

Apparently, Beaumont, TX and I have a relationship…It’s a long distance one albeit, but a relationship nonetheless…

So here’s Kim and Brian…both dentists that now call Beaumont home. Their easygoing personalities and laid back and fun loving attitudes made photographing this Beaumont wedding at the Beaumont Country Club absolutely 100% fun fun fun.

Take a peek, and decide for yourself!

Kim, showing off her hot pink nails! :)

LOVED LOVED LOVED the tender moments between Kim and her parents…I won’t lie, it brought a tear to my eye as Kim’s father spoke words of wisdom to Kim in Spanish (I’m assuming they were words of wisdom Kim, but for all I know he could have been telling you the latest YouTube video craze!! ) :)

Some beautiful detail shots…(Anyone else have the urge to keep singing “shots, shots, shots, shots, shots, shots, everybody, shots, shots, shots…No? Just me? Ok fine then…)

First look…First look…First look…I figure if I say it long enough and loud enough more people will listen to me…I LOVE FIRST LOOKS (yes, I capitalized it, THAT’S how much I love first looks!!!)

First dance and fun-ness with Brian’s brothers!

CRAZYBOOTH!!!! If you are interested in having a CRAZYBOOTH at your wedding, please let me know!! I especially love love love (apparently, I have to say it 3 times) to really reiterate how much I LOVE Crazybooths! They are awesomely fun for your guests…For any local weddings within driving distance, I am offering a CRAZY BOOTH for FREE when you book with me for 2010!!  Hurry up and e-mail me! :) suzy@suzyminphotography.com you know you want one!!! :)

Kim and Brian, I wish you a lifetime of happiness and health together! May your sorrows be few and your joys be plentiful!! I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! :) Your gallery will be up soon!!

We are so lucky…

I can’t say enough how blessed Mike and I are to have so many wonderful friends in the photography industry.

We are lucky enough to call some of the worlds top photographers friends…(tear! ) :)

Never in my wildest dreams would I think that I would be able to call the people I do friends…

Anyhow, when Mike and I first announced our engagement, the first question that popped out of everyone’s mouth was “Who’s going to be your photographer?!” Welllll…we are going to keep you guys in suspense just a LLIIIIIITTTLLEE bit longer, but I will let you in on our first (of many) engagement sessions…

The wonderful, magical, oh-so-BRILLIANT John Michael Cooper (and can’t forget his beautimous wife, Dalisa) of www.altf.com photographed us…

I’m going to make you go to his blog for the rest of the photos, but I’ll give you a little sneaky-peek here..

Isn’t it wonderful? Love love love it!!!

John and Dalisa, you are SUCH wonderful people!! JMC, you sir are by far…more brilliant and artistic than I could ever hope for!! Thank you so much for photographing us!!!

January 30, 2010 - 9:04 pm GDub - Sigh. LOVE them...they are perfection! <3 JMC, I love thee....

Beaumont Wedding photography – Kim and Brian Teaser!

You would think I actually LIVED in Beaumont from all these Beaumont weddings huh? :)

Just a little teaser for Kim and Brian who are back from a scrumptious honeymoon!! I want to hear all about it!! :)

First Look - Have I mentioned couples, how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE a first look??!?!

I love strawberries….

BWHAHAHAHHAA!! I love this one from the reception….:)

Love you guys!! I hope you had a fabulous time on your honeymoon! I’ll have a full sneak peek for you up soon!!

January 28, 2010 - 10:09 am Abbey Saloiye - I love the strawberry ring shot. Looks yummy!

I love food…and hate excercising…

Who’s with me?! All my lazy bums out there…HOLLA!!! :)

If you’ve followed me on Twitter or are friends with me on Facebook, you’ve no doubt heard me complaining about how much weight I’ve put on since moving to the biggest state in the Union…(30 pounds if you’re wondering). I’ve had to buy bigger pants (gasp!!) and am just generally unhappy with my overall appearance.

Now what to do with this? I’ve got a couple of options – 1) Cut my calorie intake and stay on my lazy butt. 2) Don’t change my eating habits and get off my fat butt. 3) Change my eating habits AND get off my fat butt. 4) Or just stay on my fat butt, don’t change my eating habits and keep packing on the pounds!

None of the above suggestions make me a happy Suzy…because like I mentioned earlier…I’m lazy and I don’t like to work out and I like my food. Le sigh…

So this is what I’m trying to get off my lazy ass to do…

Um, hi. Do ANY of those people look like they need do the extreme home fitness??? I daresay not!!

I started P90X awhile back and got through 10 days and then we started an insane amount of traveling and I just never got back into the groove.

Suzy’s gonna get her groove back! I will fit back into my old jeans…without the help of  my trusty ol’ Spanx. P90X, how I looooooooaaaathe thee…But you are what’s going to get me back into my old jeans…and what’s going to make me look smokin’ HAWT in a wedding dress come next January…

So, blog readers…can you help me in this?? Anyone else want to get back into shape? Anyone else want to help me be accountable? Because I obviously suck at it…

Who’s with me?!?!? :)

January 13, 2010 - 11:48 am Robert Whetton - Dorset Events Photographer - Hey Suz, I'm with you all the way, I lost close to 20lbs over the summer and put half that back on over these winter months.. Time to kick ourselves back into shape :D

January 13, 2010 - 1:44 pm shelley - I just started p90x on Sunday. I'm with you all the way!

1-11-10

What’s the significance of this date you ask? Well, I’ll tell you. In exactly ONE YEAR from TODAY. I will be married to my best friend.

Yes, folks we have set a date. 1-11-11. Yes, it’s a Tuesday. But you have to realize we are wedding photographers and our favorite people are wedding photographers and to incorporate them in, we have to do it during the week. And the fact that my favorite number is 111, that had a little something to do with our decision…But just a bit… :)

In 365 days, I will be married to the love of my life, Mike Fulton. I have no illusions of happily ever after, or that it’ll be magically easy. We’ve been together quite awhile and half of that was long distance, we’ve had our shares of ups and downs, but through it all, we’ve been able to see the big picture. It all reminds me of one my faaaaavvvvvorite movies evvvvvvvvvveeeeeerrrrr…Like ever.

The Notebook - yes, I know it’s a movie, but one of my favorite scenes is when Noah is proclaiming his love for Allie.

My favorite line is when he says “So it’s not gonna be easy. It’s gonna be really hard. And we’re gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that, because I want you. I want all of you, forever, you and me, everyday…”

Doesn’t that sum up marriage in a nutshell?? Or relationships for that matter?? If we don’t work at our relationships, they become stilted and stagnant, but we have to remember that love, real true undying love is hard. It’s not some fairytale ending, it’s not some happily ever after, it’s hard.

We both realize this, and while we might not LIKE each other every day or all the time, we do LOVE each other all the time…I leave you with a couple of snaps from our past…one being from the happiest place on earth and the other from a year ago, but I just love it…

So bloggity bloggertons (see? there I go trying to be all cutesy again!) What do you think? We’ve officially announced our wedding date and how hard (but worth it!!!) marriage is!

Thoughts??

January 11, 2010 - 1:53 pm Kim Townsend - CONGRATS! So glad you have the date set. Love you guys! xoxoxo

January 11, 2010 - 2:15 pm Beth Caporaletti - I am married to the love of my life too, Suzy... and you have really nailed it. Falling in love is very easy... But marriage is work. But totally worth it. It really is. When the man that you have chosen to spend the rest of your life with is the man that you only dreamed you could have. The man that will give you the best gifts ever... your children and the man you will get old with and laugh at all the great moments you shared and cry with about all of the hard ones you got thru together. Best of luck to you at the beginning of a beautiful journey thru life together!

January 11, 2010 - 2:30 pm kevin hoehne - Congratulations to you and Mike.

January 11, 2010 - 8:03 pm Carl Gandolfo - Congrats to both of you!! You will be great together. Now what becomes of Cody? :)

January 12, 2010 - 4:08 am Vanessa McDonald - Hey Congrats you guys! Wishing you all the best! You are such a great couple! I enjoyed spending time with you guys in Washington last August...maybe after you're hitched you'll wanna come up and visit us here in Alaska!

January 14, 2010 - 7:31 pm Samantha - Congratulations to both of you. I enjoyed meeting you at the workshop in Seattle and you seemed like very genuine happy people. Having been married for 17 year to a very tolerant but great man I can attest that it does indeed take work even when you adore each other. Sometimes the regular parts of life just aren't fun. :) But SOOOO worth making it work!!! Love looking through your blog too. Now the big question.......who will be photographing it???? ;)

January 15, 2010 - 6:52 pm Molly - I wish & hope that you are as happy in life as you are in love. All the best to the both of you.

January 16, 2010 - 9:32 am Toni - Mike and Suzy, I'm shouting congratulations! I love your post announcing this. I'm so happy for you two!!

I love orange…Yes, I do!!

I always have and I always will. I’ve loved orange since I was 12 years old and the only time you could get orange things was Halloween.

I’m not sure why I love the color orange so much, maybe because it’s out of the norm. When everyone’s favorite color was blue or green or pink, I wanted to stand out and be different…

I remember being a freshman in high school and carrying my backpack and an orange purse from Old Navy that I got on clearance for like $5.00 or something…it was actually kinda cute (in my head anyways…hey leave me alone, I was 13 and ecstatic that there was actually something ORANGE out there!!! ) :) I went to school, SUPER proud of my purse and my friends looked at me like I was holding Frankenstein’s head on a string…they gasped “WHAT ARE YOU WEARING?!” (being the smart ass that I am) I replied “Uhhh, clothes…DUH.” They shook their heads and pointed to my delightful orange purse and said exclaimed ” NO, you’re PURSE!!” I smile when I think of those times, when orange wasn’t “cool” to carry, but I didn’t care…and I still really don’t…

Fast forward to this day and age…I’m older, wiser (ok, ok…give me a little credit!!) and I still LOVE the color orange….In fact, sitting in front of me right now is my orange watch, 3 orange USB drives, and an orange letter opener…BWHAHAHAHA! :) While I do love love love the color orange, I rarely WEAR orange shirts/shoes/pants (even I have a limit)

So, what’s this long rambling post about how much I love the color orange have to do with anything besides proclaiming my love for the citrus-y fun color??

Well, it’s one of my wedding colors silly!!! :) (Those that know me are shaking their heads right about now…)

Of course it’s  one of my colors, it’s been my favorite color since I was 12, I HAVE to incorporate it in the biggest day of my life!! :)

So without further ado, my wedding “inspiration board”

So, what do you think blog readers? (I tried to come up with a cutesy name for you, blog-o-peeps, blog nation, but as you can see, I clearly suck…)

I realize there’s a lot of “I” and “my” in this post as opposed to “we” and “our”, but Mike has given me cart blanche to do the wedding how I like…but I would really like to incorporate HIS favorite color of PURPLE in somewhere…anyone have any suggestions??

What do you think of my wedding colors??
