1-11-10

What’s the significance of this date you ask? Well, I’ll tell you. In exactly ONE YEAR from TODAY. I will be married to my best friend.

Yes, folks we have set a date. 1-11-11. Yes, it’s a Tuesday. But you have to realize we are wedding photographers and our favorite people are wedding photographers and to incorporate them in, we have to do it during the week. And the fact that my favorite number is 111, that had a little something to do with our decision…But just a bit… :)

In 365 days, I will be married to the love of my life, Mike Fulton. I have no illusions of happily ever after, or that it’ll be magically easy. We’ve been together quite awhile and half of that was long distance, we’ve had our shares of ups and downs, but through it all, we’ve been able to see the big picture. It all reminds me of one my faaaaavvvvvorite movies evvvvvvvvvveeeeeerrrrr…Like ever.

The Notebook - yes, I know it’s a movie, but one of my favorite scenes is when Noah is proclaiming his love for Allie.

My favorite line is when he says “So it’s not gonna be easy. It’s gonna be really hard. And we’re gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that, because I want you. I want all of you, forever, you and me, everyday…”

Doesn’t that sum up marriage in a nutshell?? Or relationships for that matter?? If we don’t work at our relationships, they become stilted and stagnant, but we have to remember that love, real true undying love is hard. It’s not some fairytale ending, it’s not some happily ever after, it’s hard.

We both realize this, and while we might not LIKE each other every day or all the time, we do LOVE each other all the time…I leave you with a couple of snaps from our past…one being from the happiest place on earth and the other from a year ago, but I just love it…

So bloggity bloggertons (see? there I go trying to be all cutesy again!) What do you think? We’ve officially announced our wedding date and how hard (but worth it!!!) marriage is!

Thoughts??

January 11, 2010 - 2:15 pm Beth Caporaletti - I am married to the love of my life too, Suzy... and you have really nailed it. Falling in love is very easy... But marriage is work. But totally worth it. It really is. When the man that you have chosen to spend the rest of your life with is the man that you only dreamed you could have. The man that will give you the best gifts ever... your children and the man you will get old with and laugh at all the great moments you shared and cry with about all of the hard ones you got thru together. Best of luck to you at the beginning of a beautiful journey thru life together!

January 11, 2010 - 2:30 pm kevin hoehne - Congratulations to you and Mike.

January 12, 2010 - 4:08 am Vanessa McDonald - Hey Congrats you guys! Wishing you all the best! You are such a great couple! I enjoyed spending time with you guys in Washington last August...maybe after you're hitched you'll wanna come up and visit us here in Alaska!

January 14, 2010 - 7:31 pm Samantha - Congratulations to both of you. I enjoyed meeting you at the workshop in Seattle and you seemed like very genuine happy people. Having been married for 17 year to a very tolerant but great man I can attest that it does indeed take work even when you adore each other. Sometimes the regular parts of life just aren't fun. :) But SOOOO worth making it work!!! Love looking through your blog too. Now the big question.......who will be photographing it???? ;)

January 15, 2010 - 6:52 pm Molly - I wish & hope that you are as happy in life as you are in love. All the best to the both of you.

January 16, 2010 - 9:32 am Toni - Mike and Suzy, I'm shouting congratulations! I love your post announcing this. I'm so happy for you two!!
